What is Domain Contact Verification?
Domain contact verification is an ICANN-required process that confirms the accuracy of the registrant’s email address for a domain name.
It ensures that the person or organization listed as the domain owner can be reached through the contact information provided during registration.
This verification is part of ICANN’s global policy to maintain valid and accurate registration data for all generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs) such as .com, .net, .org, .info, and others.
Why Do I Need to Verify My Domain Contact?
Verification helps ICANN and domain registrars:
- Prevent fraudulent or inaccurate domain ownership records.
- Ensure that important notifications (renewals, transfers, or security alerts) reach the rightful owner.
- Comply with ICANN’s Registration Data Policy (RDP) and Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA) requirements.
Unverified contact information can result in the temporary suspension of the domain.
Under ICANN’s rules, you must verify your registrant contact within 15 calendar days of:
- Registering a new domain name, or
- Updating the registrant’s name, organization, or email address.
If verification is not completed within 15 days, the domain may be suspended temporarily.
It will resume functioning once the email verification link is confirmed.
For Newly Registered Domains
After registering a new domain name, you will receive a verification email sent to the registrant email address listed in the domain contact details.
To complete verification:
- Check the verification email in your mailbox
- Click the verification link within 15 days
Once verified, your domain will remain active and compliant with ICANN requirements.
For Updates to Registrant Information
When you update your domain’s registrant name, organization, or email address, ICANN requires re-verification of the contact information.
If the current registrant email address is no longer accessible and cannot verify the change, please contact our support team for further assistance.
