Self-Managed vs Fully-Managed Servers

The choice between self-managed and fully managed servers depends on your technical expertise, time availability, and specific needs. Here’s a breakdown of the key differences:

Self-Managed Servers
1. Control: You have full control over the server, including configuration, maintenance, and updates.
2. Customization: You can customize the server environment to meet your specific requirements.
3. Responsibility: You are responsible for all aspects of server management, including security and troubleshooting.
4. Technical Expertise: Requires a higher level of technical knowledge and time commitment.

Fully Managed Servers
1. Support: The hosting provider handles server setup, maintenance, updates, security, and backups.
2. Convenience: Ideal for users who prefer a hands-off approach and want to focus on their core business activities.
3. Security: Enhanced security measures are typically included, managed by the provider.
4. Monitoring: Continuous monitoring and proactive issue resolution by the provider.

In summary, self-managed servers are best for tech-savvy users who need full control and customization of the server.
Whereas fully managed servers are best for users who prefer convenience and expert support by the provider.

Please be informed that our support for "Fully-Managed" servers is limited to software supported by our team and is provided on a case-by-case basis.
In the event that a request falls outside our support scope, we recommend considering the "Self-Managed" plan, which would allow you to install and configure software independently.

To gain Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) or Secure Shell (SSH) access to your server, it is necessary to convert the server management plan from "Fully-Managed" to "Self-Managed".
Since releasing the RDP or SSH login means that you have total access to the server, we will not have insight into how the server has been configured or modified on your end.
Due to this, please be aware that support for self-managed servers are limited to the network and hardware of the physical server hosting your server only.
If you require assistance in troubleshooting software-level issues, you may provide us with your administrative RDP or SSH login credentials along with a detailed explanation of the steps to replicate the issue you are experiencing.
However, please note that assistance for self-managed server accounts is offered on a best-effort basis due to the limitations mentioned above.

If you are interested in converting to the "Self-Managed" server management plan, please contact our team at support@yeahhost.com.my to initiate the conversion process.
For servers purchased without control panel, the server management plan is set to self-managed by default.
